Abri Apartments is located at 10-12 Bayview Road in the heart of central Paihia, Bay of Islands, New Zealand. The chalets / apartments are elevated with Sea Views and are nestled amongst trees within a tranquil sub-tropical garden setting. Abri Apartments is very Private and Peaceful; located away from busy roads yet it is an easy 3-5 minute walk to the beach or into central Paihia Township where you will find a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants; as well as the Paihia Wharf where all of the Bay of Islands sightseeing tours and cruises depart.

Arriving By Car:

The fastest route North from Auckland Airport (International and Domestic).  Follow the signage to Auckland City Centre on the South Western Motorway (SH20). Make sure that you enter the Waterview Tunnel in the middle or right lane.  When you exit Waterview Tunnel, take the right lanes  signed "East City Centre", on to the North Western Motorway (SH16); then take Exit 4A for "Whangarei North" (Northern Motorway 1 / SH1); this will take you over the Auckland Harbour Bridge.  This route is via a motorway all the way to North of Warkworth. It is a Toll Road (NZ$2.60 one way) however it is a far better option (quicker and straighter) than following the signage at Waterview Tunnel for North via SH16 to Wellsford.

Driving time from Auckland Harbour Bridge is approx. 3 hours 15 mins heading North on Northern Motorway 1 then State Highway 1 to Kawakawa. Then follow State Highway 11 for another 15 minutes to Paihia, Bay of Islands. Continue along the main waterfront road (Marsden Road) past the Paihia Wharf on the right and then turn left into Bayview Road. Proceed along Bayview Road and go straight through the junction passing Selwyn Road on the left and go up the hill.  Abri Apartments is on the left just before the 90° left bend.

If you exit left from the Waterview Tunnel (this is a possibility as the signage does direct traffic North via the left exit at this point); you will end up on SH16 heading to Helensville and on to Wellsford where you join SH1 heading North.   This route (SH16) is OK but it does result in a longer driving time and does not have many passing lanes. I believe it is NZTA's attempt to split the traffic heading North for the unwary traveller as traffic on SH1 heading over the bridge and out of the city can become congested at high peak times during weekdays, ie Monday to Friday.

Arriving By Plane:

Paihia is 20 minutes by road from the Bay of Islands Airport in Kerikeri. You can travel to Paihia via taxi or hire car. Follow the signage to Paihia via SH10 and then turning left on to SH11 to Paihia.  As you arrive in Paihia / Waitangi, turn right at the roundabout; drive along the waterfront and turn right into Bayview Road.  Proceed along Bayview Road and go straight through the junction passing Selwyn Road on the left and go up the hill. Abri Apartments is on the left just before the 90° left bend.

Arriving By Bus:

There are daily bus connections from Auckland City to Paihia via Intercity Bus. The Bus Depot is situated at the Paihia Wharf which is an easy 5 minute walk from Abri.  If you let us know in advance of your arrival by bus, we will be happy to pick you up.
