Known as the “Winterless North” the Bay of Islands in New Zealand offers fun and sun no matter what the season.

Paihia is the Heart of the Bay of Islands; the place of friendly locals, providing many places to wander along the waterfront including a multitude of shops, cafes and restaurants. Whether it's viewing the marine life on a cruise, taking in a spot of retail therapy, exploring the Far North or just lazing under a tree, Paihia is the place to be.

The landscape and scenery in and around Paihia and the Bay of Islands is nothing short of spectacular. There are amazing beaches and a host of islands making this an aquatic playground for the adventurous or just lazing in the sun. Historical sites and native bush provide endless land-based enjoyment.

Less adrenaline style but equally impressive, are the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and other historic sites, arts and craft centers, winery's, unique museums and walks in the Maritime Park.   If you enjoy playing golf, The Waitangi Golf Club welcomes visitors at all times of the year and their location is second to none!!

Many come to the Bay of Islands for the adventures and beach time, only to find themselves spending the day relaxing on their deck at Abri Apartments while enjoying the sun and gorgeous sea views!

Boat cruises depart from the Paihia Wharf which is an easy 5 minute walk from Abri Apartments.  With the huge variety of cruises to choose from, it allows you to choose how you wish to fully experience some of the 144 islands, within the aptly named Bay of Islands.  Scenic boat trips out to the ‘Hole in the Rock’ at the tip of Cape Brett, the southern gateway to the Bay of Islands, is one of the most popular maritime excursions, along with experiencing a dinner cruise up the famous Waitangi River.

For a true Northland cultural experience, you can visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds or you can paddle a waka up the tidal estuaries of the Waitangi River.

Or you can just Relax, Soak up the Stunning Sea Views from your patio deck chair at Abri Apartments, while you Listen to the Birds Singing in the Trees.
